Friday Favorites--First Post Edition!

Happy Friday friends! As you can see by the title this is my first post here at Pennanen Pens. Exactly one year ago I left my teaching career to be a stay-at-home momma. Even though there are many aspects of teaching that I miss so much, I have also loved being able to stay home. There is nothing better for me than to be the one at home with my baby. Recently I have felt the pull to want to do something else...working outside the home is just not an option right now, so I thought what better time than now to start a blog! LOL Do people even read blogs anymore??! I don't know, but I still read a few so thought maybe I'll give this is a go again... (way back in my single days, I did blog for a while, and I really enjoyed it).

Anyway...enough rambling for now! LOL Friday Favorites are my FAVORITE posts to read so I thought what better way to start than with one of those posts! I'm linking up with Andrea and Erika by the way!

Here we go with a few of my FAVORITES from the week!

#1 My Flowers!

My hubby planted these a couple weeks ago and I'm just so excited that I haven't killed them yet! LOL Fingers crossed I can keep them going all summer!

#2 Sweet Magnolias

I think I'm late to the party on this one, but oh my goodness, this is my new FAVORITE show! I'm into season 2 already so I'm going to need a new one soon.... does anyone have any good recs??

#3 Summer Reads
I plan to do a post soon where I actually review these books, but if you need some reading suggestions for the summer, these are all great books! They're all very different, but really good.

I'm having a moment with Madewell! I hopped in there the other day and oh my goodness I wanted one of everything. I made a little collage here with some of my FAVORITES!

Mini Dress    Gingham Top    Maxi Dress    Earrings    Sandals

#5 Cute Summer Top

I purchased this top recently for our trip to Panama. I like that it's short enough to wear with shorts, but not a crop top (which seems to be hard to find lately). I also brought these sandals to wear with dresses, but they look cute with anything!
Speaking of Panama, if you follow me over on Instagram @mrspennanen you can see my latest post was a reel I put together of some of our pics from the trip. 😊

Ok, I think that wraps up my first post! If you've made it this far--thank you for reading!! I hope everyone has a very happy Memorial Day weekend!

Book Review--Summer Reading Ideas

Happy Tuesday friends! I hope everyone had a wonderful long weekend and a good start to your short week! I thought I'd jump on here today and review some books that I've read recently. I mentioned these in my  Friday Favorites post  last week and that I'd do an actual review of them soon...so here we go! Four VERY different books, but all GREAT reads! #1  Not A Happy Family Ok, I REALLY loved this book! It's suspenseful, but not scary. It hooks you right from the beginning, as it really is a "who done it" type read. I truly had no idea how it would end until I got there. I have read a couple of Lapena's books, and this one really made me interested to read more. #2  Our Woman in Moscow This is the second Beatriz Williams book I've read and I really enjoyed it. I read  A Hundred Summers  last year and I really LOVED that one. I listened to that one on audiobook so maybe that was part of the reason I loved it so much, I don't really know. This hist...

What's Up Wednesday {April 2023}

Hey Hey Friends! I'm here on a Wednesday to link up with  Shay  and  Sheaffer  for What's Up Wednesday! So let's get into it! What We're Eating This Week... I made  this soup  last week and it was delish!! Try it, you'll love it! What I'm Reminiscing About... Teaching...this time of year with the anticipation of summer coming, it makes me miss the classroom! I hope to go back someday. What I'm Loving... Hyaluronic Acid I started using this a few months ago, and I love it! It gives my skin the extra boost of hydration it needs, and I really think it helps keep my breakouts at bay, and when I do have a few I think it helps them heal faster. A little goes a long way, I only use 1-2 drops, twice a day. What We've Been Up To... Playing outside and enjoying all the beautiful spring weather! I love this time of year--the allergies not so much, but the weather I'm here for. What I'm Dreading... Cleaning LOL...anyone else feel like they continuously clea...

Books On My Summer 2022 To-Read List

Happy Tuesday friends! I'm back from our family vacation, and ready to share with you books on my summer reading list! I'm linking up with  That Artsy Reader Girl  for Top Ten Tuesday! Ok, I don't know if you follow  Shay  at  Mix and Match Mama , but she is literally where I get all my book ideas! Every month she reviews all the books she read that month, and after I read her posts I go to my library app and check out all the good ones! So...to get my list for today I opened up my library app and found all the books I have on hold. Here is my list of books I want to read (hopefully this summer!)...let me know if you've read any of these in the comments and if they're worth my time! In no particular order... Summer Love  by Nancy Thayer Out of the Clear Blue Sky  by Kristan Higgins The Wedding Veil  by Kristy Woodson Harvey One Night on the Island  by Josie Silver The Night She Disappeared  by Lisa Jewll The Girls in the Stilt Hous...
